What I've Learned in Three Short Months

While I thought my role as mom meant I'd be teaching Lyla all sorts of things, I quickly discovered that she would be giving me lessons of my own.  In the three short months since her arrival, here are some things my daughter has taught me.

-You can function on very little sleep.
-Sometimes, though you've done all the right things like feed them, change them or put them to bed, all she wants is a cuddle from her mom and dad.
-How to eat with one hand
-How to sleep with one hand on the bassinet preparing to rock her back to sleep
-That even the slightest hint of her smile, after hours of crying, gives me the strength to make it through some rough moments
-How to burp her with one hand and catch her spit-up in the other
-Laundry and cleaning no longer matter
-My favorite TV shows can wait
-No matter how fast I am at making a bottle, sometimes it's just not fast enough
-To understand why my parents asked the questions they did about where I was going, with who, and when I would be back.
-Poop is a victory
-Schedules are a joke, but routine is a life-saver
-Getting up early in the morning isn't so bad after all
-How to take a really quick shower
-How to apply makeup with one hand
-Instead of getting irritated at some other crying baby in the store, I feel sympathy for its mother.
-How one little girl can make so many people happy
